There've been a lot of posts lately about troubles with dating. Thought I would share this list I gave a friend of mine. Hope it helps someone here.
Things that men should do before they start dating after a divorce:
Essential:
• Learn that the ONLY person responsible for your happiness is the person in the mirror (not your ex, not your boss, and definitely not a new girlfriend).
• Get into a regular exercise routine.
• Clean up your diet.
• Re-discover your mission and purpose in life.
Optional but highly encouraged:
• Write down your goals in life, including your “bucket list.”
• Make a budget and stick to it (use bucket list for motivation).
• Set up automatic deductions from your checking account into a savings account.
• Write down your values. Ruthlessly cut out everything in your life that doesn’t serve them.
• Take a 30-day fast from women, electronics, alcohol, sugar and junk food.
• Make a list of all the good men you know and reach out to one of them each week.
• Push yourself outside your comfort zone. Do something every year that scares you.
• Learn how to shoot a firearm safely, consistently and accurately.
• Go hiking, either with friends or by yourself. Start slowly but build yourself up into more strenuous hikes.
• Learn to box or some other form of martial arts.
• Read good books like the writings of Marcus Aurelius or Ernest Hemmingway.
• Learn to dance. Understand the power and charm of taking the lead.
• Volunteer to help a cause that you deeply care about.
• Go skydiving.
• Learn to cook a few of your favorite dishes very well.
• Get your dress shirts tailored to better fit your body.
• Manscape.
• Learn to make the perfect Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
• Forgive anyone and everyone whom you have a grudge with.
• Take up smoking meat (or roasting coffee beans).
• Learn to ride a motorcycle.
• Find someone you know right now that is struggling. Reach out them.
• Remember: the best revenge is good living!
